Where do you guys buy ammo?
 

Local gun shop is selling standard 12G buckshot rounds for over $1 a round. Online dealers look way cheaper. Is it safe to buy online?

Unless you have something against Wally World, you can pick up 2 3/4" 00 buck for under $4 per 5/pack. If they sell the value packs, it's 15 for about $9.50.

If you want magnum loads, it'll cost you more, but since I don't use them, I can't tell you how much more.

I bought Federal #6 & #7.5 LEAD shot at Walmart for right at $5 a box, including tax. That's twenty cents a round. I bought ten boxes. I think I'm gonna go back and get ten more. Then I'm all done with shotgun ammo needs. I already have 00 and #4. The #6 & #7.5 shot is for low recoil home defense.

Or if I go out bird hunting, which I NEVER do.

Wally world. At least here in Denver, it can be a good place for ammo.

Every time I go to Wally World I make sure I pick up ammo. Cash with no paper trail.

Ok, if you are placing a LARGE order via the internet, use a card. But in a cash and carry situation, I ALWAYS try to pay cash and carry it out.

And dang man, a case of shotgun shells (10 boxes) ain't as light as it used to be. Or I'm just getting a little older and nothing works quite as well as it used to.

One of these days, they are gonna ask if I need help carrying my groceries out to the car and I'm gonna say yes. Especially on our monthly visit where we basically stock up. Never thought I'd say that.

i picked up 9mm ammo for 7.99 (50) this week.....didn't have to buy the case either which is nice.

Gun shows cheapest here, if you can avoid sales tax. Online, Sportsman's Guide is reliably cheap if you have their Buyer's Club (5% off ammo), Visa (additional 2.5% off), and a free-shipping coupon (if not available, often there's one for $10 off $99 or more).

Pick up a copy of Shotgun News. Usually lots of deals there. Gun shows are another place to watch.

Don't be too afraid of old / surplus ammo, esp. for target practice. I bought a couple of cases of 40+ yr old Spanish 9mm a while back, and it was ultra-cheap and great. The only problem was a few dead rounds out of a couple thousand, and a need to clean the pistol extra-well afterwards.

If you have a Bass Pro Shops in your area they're having a 10% off sale on Remington UMC 9s, 38s, 40s, and 45s.

I thought they were high on the .45s as they wanted 17.88 per box, and they have blazer brass at Walmart for 14.88. I was going to buy some .38s as they had them for 13.88 per box but I want to see what Wally World has them for first. I dont need 40s so I didnt really look at those. But they did have 9s for 8.88 per box to which I picked up 3.

Great store....but I find Walmart has better prices on ammo.

I pay cash for everything, always.
